Terms of Service

Last updated: 12 July 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using Carpool Planner, you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and provisions of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use this service.

2. Nature of the Service

Carpool Planner is a coordination tool that helps parents arrange carpools with each other. It is not a transportation provider. Drivers are independent parents, not employees or contractors of Carpool Planner, and are solely responsible for the safe operation of their car and compliance with applicable traffic and licensing laws.

3. Parental Consent

No child is ever assigned to ride with another parent without the explicit, logged approval of their own verified parent or guardian account. Approvals may be revoked at any time and recurring approvals automatically expire per the schedule you set.

4. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

The service is provided on an "as is" basis without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Carpool Planner disclaims liability for damages arising from rides arranged through the platform, including but not limited to accidents, delays, or disputes between parents.

5. Modifications

These terms may be revised at any time. Continued use of the service after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 12 July 2026

1. Information We Collect

We collect information you provide directly: your name, email, phone number, home location, car details, and information about your children (first name and age range only — children do not have their own accounts or log in).

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To match you with other parents for carpooling
  • To send ride, message, and safety notifications
  • To respond to support requests
  • To enforce these terms and keep the platform safe

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Location and contact details are only shared with a matched parent once a ride is confirmed, and messaging stays in-app.

4. Data Security & Retention

Data is encrypted at rest. Pickup/drop-off addresses are treated as sensitive and are not logged in plaintext. Consent and approval records are retained for at least 7 years.

5. Your Rights

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

Safety Guidelines

Keep yourself and your family safe while carpooling

Before You Carpool

  • Verify the identity and rating of the other parent through the app
  • Meet the driver and inspect the car before the first ride
  • Share ride details with someone you trust

Car & Driver Safety

  • Confirm car seats and booster seats are properly installed for each child's age
  • Verify the driver has a valid license, insurance, and (where applicable) a cleared background check
  • Ensure every passenger has a working seatbelt

Child Safety

  • Provide the driver with emergency contact information and any relevant medical or allergy details
  • Agree on drop-off/pick-up procedures in advance

Reporting Concerns

If you experience a safety concern or inappropriate behavior, use the "Report" option on the ride or profile, or contact support directly. Contact local authorities immediately for any emergency.

Trust your instincts. You can cancel a ride at any time if something doesn't feel right.
